In the fourth of our series of employee profiles, we introduce you to Helena Henno, MedEngine’s Senior Scientific Project Manager, Medical Affairs & Marketing.

It’s very fitting that one of Helena Henno’s pastimes is orienteering.

The competitive sport that requires navigational skills, combined with agility and speed, demands the ability to map new territory. That combination of expertise provides the perfect analogy for what’s necessary in Helena’s role as Senior Scientific Project Manager. As part of the Medical Affairs & Marketing team, she’s responsible for many of MedEngine’s most demanding projects, while supporting other project managers and helping to develop new concepts.

“At MedEngine, I have the opportunity to bring together my areas of expertise: medical science and business,”

says Helena, who joined the company in 2016 after working for several years as a Research Scientist with VTT Technical Research Center of Finland.

“Here, new ideas move forward and are put into practice quickly, which is very motivating,” says Helena, who holds a master’s degree in biotechnology from the University of Helsinki and is soon to be a freshly minted graduate of Aalto University, where she is completing a second master’s degree, this one in strategy studies.

Covering new ground

“As part of my job at MedEngine, we’re developing turnkey solutions for pharmaceutical and health tech companies to help them streamline their marketing and communications,” explains Helena. “My business and strategy studies really support this.”

“I see strategy as determining the best way to get from A to B, while constantly re-evaluating the process along the way.”

“It’s an efficiency mindset that can be applied to our client’s work on any scale,” she says.

Helena, who grew up in Helsinki’s neighboring city Espoo, describes herself as a people person who loves new challenges and problem solving.

“Some of the most fascinating projects we’re currently working on are global. We are creating content and marketing communications for international pharmaceutical and health tech companies, which is very exciting, as we are focusing more on the international marketplace,” she says.

A cut above the rest

According to Helena, MedEngine’s competitive advantage is the emphasis on high quality.

“When pharmaceutical and health tech companies work with us, they receive a premium-quality customer experience in our research, marketing, and communication projects,” she says.

“From choosing the right words to creating visuals, everything is done with extreme care whether it’s an entire communications plan or the design of a postcard,” she says.

The power of teamwork

In addition to orienteering, in her free time Helena enjoys a range of active pastimes including horseback riding, dance classes and pilates.

“I notice that I get much more out of doing things with a group or being part of team,” she says.

Those wise words also apply to her work at MedEngine.
